I kept receiving error messages and did not think my queries had stuck. I did indeed locate the Logic Studio System ID in the Application Support folder, but it is a type of file (ccc_helper) that I've never seen before and that my Mac doesn't recognize. It won't open in any other application. (It seems to be an ancillary to Carbon Copy Cloner, but I can't imagin why.) And to answer your earlier question, no, I've never installed Logic on a desktop before.

Its nothing to do with CCC. That's just a coincidence. You can try, if you haven't already, simply copying across that file from its place on your laptop into the same location on your desktop and see if that works but I'm guessing it wont.

However, upon further thought. If you can still run Logic on your Laptop however, you can find your serial by going to the 'About Logic Pro' menu item as the serial is part of that dialog box that appears. And then you can enter that on your desktop when asked. And fingers crossed that might solve your issue!
